It is a personal help button worn on the wrist or around the neck. If urgent assistance is required, pressing the button will alert the monitoring centre and they will attempt to contact the client either through the unit or by phone, if no contact can be made an emergency is assumed and an ambulance is dispatched. There are monitoring centres in New Zealand ensuring that should there be a serious emergency, such as the Christchurch earthquake, monitoring must be able to still operate. ADT’s personal alarm covers medical, security and fire emergencies.
In the case of clients requiring the Police, we will also despatch a security guard, There is no charge for this. There are two types of medical alarms, the in-home one & the new anywhere alarm and For activations either at home or away we will cover the cost of the ambulance. ADT is an accredited supplier of Medical alarms and we can offer advice should you qualify for funding. As the alarm is funded through the Disability Allowance, I can also advise on items that you are entitled to but may not be aware of.
